A case study in the effects of different per wave stacking abilities

With more daemons with ‘per wave’ abilities released, let’s take a closer look at the effect of each per wave boost and how it affects damage in the endless mode. In this example I make use of Emperor Sutoku, his [HW2] version, Siren, Morin, Kay Kagen, all of which are commonly used daemons on the Endless Challenge mode.

The Endless Challenge sees damage cap at 99,999 for auto attacks, and 999,999 for skill attacks. Crit rate is capped at 85% for the game. The more effectively the combination of wave stacking abilities add to each other, the lower the wave that the autos and skills and crit rate hit their cap. In the table below, I compare Sutoku [Original form] to his [HW2] form, with varying other boosting daemons applied on the team, and calculate the number of waves it will take for their crit damage on autos and skill to hit the game imposed limits. The number of waves to hit the crit rate cap is also listed. The calculation was done thanks to a calculator designed by Emilio (coming soon!). There may be slight errors (rounding up or down) but should still be relatively accurate in illustrating the effectiveness of the different abilities stacking together.

*Not including the leader ability of 20% Crit DMG boost, and assuming you ONLY have 2 Phantasma daemons on the team, so the per wave boost always applies to Sutoku.

Observations:

  1. On their own, neither versions of Sutoku have sufficient boosting abilities to cope well with Endless mode. The original version will eventually hit the damage caps with his crits, but with a standard 22.5% crit rate. The [HW2] version will hit his crit rate cap quite quickly, but the crits would be of a small size.
  2. Because of his innate per wave damage boost, Original Sutoku hits the damage caps earlier than the [HW2] version.
  3. Because of his innate per wave crit rate boost, [HW2] Sutoku hits the crit rate cap earlier than the original version.
  4. The crit rate cap is hit much earlier than the damage or skill damage cap as long as a per wave crit rate booster is used (Morin, or [HW2] innately). This means that one does not need that much crit rate boost, it is capped quite early. Stacking more DMG, Crit DMG and Skill DMG would be preferable.
  5. Because they both start with the same low value skill damage, Siren or Otakemaru is critical to hitting the skill damage cap at a reasonable wave.
  6. Morin Khurr with crit rate boost is more critical for Original version of Sutoku than for [HW2] version. Original Sutoku never hits the crit rate cap unless Morin Khurr is used on the team. Where Morin is used, [HW2] version will still hit the crit rate cap earlier.
  7. Kay Kagen bond is more critical to the [HW2] version than it is to the original version of Sutoku. The outcomes of [HW2] version with Kay bond is similar to that of the original version without Kay bond (assuming other boosts are the same). Without Kay bond the [HW2] version suffers a lot.
  8. The more boosts and more balanced the boosts are that you stack, the better the damage outcome is. Not much point stacking crit rate constantly and hitting the cap almost immediately but have tiny crit damage. Likewise not much point stacking massive crit damage but have a low crit rate.

Of course not everyone will have access to all of the daemons above, nor are these daemons a full list of all the wave stacking daemons available. I simply picked a limited number and did a simple comparison. If you have access to other per wave stacking daemons then the calculations will be different. For a more complete list see the Endless (2) post,  and to calculate your own setup, use the Endless Calculator (coming soon!)

  • Hello guys i need a little help. Like you can see there are New daemons for exchange, in particulary i like the design of yuki ONNA hw2 but i Will get sherlock holmes cause his abilities. So here is the problem i dont have enought mochi to buy it, so im thinking in seel some daemons 4 that i have it máx limit. So then i Will can buy sherlock holmes. My question is if it is worth it? Or if its a bad idea sell this daemons? Pd: sorry for my english 🙁

    • Get Sherlock, he is awesome for farming drop items and exp, yuki onna seems to be a good aoe with her Freeze and when the enemy is frozen you can deal critical dmg , but there are multi hitters with critical rate as passive ability so I will pass her and buy sherlock instead

  • Thanks, I have already made a spreadsheet to calculate some of my daemons skill damage based on reserves, bonds, and team members. Kappa is quite powerful =P I love these calculations, and even though challenge event at the moment doesn’t require me to try and min-max and push as hard as possible, it is always fun for the math lover inside me.

Thanks again for the great analysis =)
