Jewel Summon Daemon Analysis: Odawara Casella; Shibufune; Megohime

Jewel Summon Daemon Analysis: Odawara Casella; Shibufune; Megohime

It was brought to my attention that one of the recent Jewel Summon banners went by completely un-commented on. So I’m retroactively remedying this one for the sake of completeness since our inception.

Perhaps a quick read through would elucidate why this set of daemons got more or less completely ignored.

Odawara Casella

5 ★ Healer Anima

Stats

Max/MLB Attack: 9000/10739

Max/MLB HP: 10000/11933

Skills

Impregnable Fortress: Restores 5685/6791 HP to ally with the lowest percentage of HP. Targets receive 51%/60% less DMG for a limited time.

Perfect Defense (lvl 58): All melee allies take 8% less DMG.

Impenetrable (lvl 76): Reduces 15% of DMG dealt by opponent with highest ATK at the start of each wave.

Opinion

Odawara Casella is a shield healer, like many others before her, and many more to come after her (Siren has already been released at the time of writing this review).

76: Reduces 15% of DMG dealt by opponent with highest ATK at the start of each wave.

Her HP and attack stats are relatively high. She targets only 1 daemon, recovering a very large amount of HP while providing an average damage reduction for 8s afterward. This is probably most useful when only 1 daemon on the team is receiving heavy damage – but this is uncommon. The huge HP recovery also makes her a no-go for PvP farming.

Odawara’s abilities might be useful on competitive PvP mode, or defensively against a difficult stage. The reduction in melee damage taken might allow your melee frontline to hold up a little longer. 15% damage reduction from the highest attack enemy is similar to Guillotine’s ability but less in magnitude (Guillotine’s reduction is 20%) but better in targeting (Guillotine targeted the highest HP opponent). Perhaps Odawara with her ability unlocked would passively help newer players survive heavy nukes from the World Boss or from stage bosses. But survival can be achieved by the use of any of the other shield healers’ active skills.

Conclusion: There is no compelling reason to prefer Odawara over any of the other Shield healers available.

Shibufune

4 ★ Healer Anima

Stats

Max/MLB Attack: 6600/8092

Max/MLB HP: 6700/8215

Skills

Ultra Relaxed (Max): Restores 1784/2188 HP to all allies.

Fantastic Fragrance (lvl 66): Restores 15% HP to Anima team members at the start of each wave.

Opinion

Shibufune is about as vanilla as a 4 star healer can get. Her skill provides a straight HP recovery to all allies with no shield, no damage boost, no speed boost, no status effect cure… nothing. While her Attack and HP stats have been power creeped to be better than those of Isis (released at the game start), there isn’t much to recommend her use. Even Flora Kashin has a Soulstone farming ability…

Her ability is a start of wave HP recovery for Anima type. Start of wave abilities are useless on single wave stages like PvP or World Boss; but can aid recovery on multi wave stages like tower or conquest. With the game rebalanced to reduce the base start of wave healing, daemons with this ability might see some increased utility, but probably only among the new or casual player base where no better choices are available. In general a 5* healer’s autos suffices to ensure survival in general multi-wave stage.

Megohime

4 ★ Ranged Divina

Stats

Max/MLB Attack: 8400/10298

Max/MLB HP: 6000/7356

Skills

Ancestral Awakening (Max): Restores 1236/1516 HP. Target (self) deals 69%/85% more DMG for a limited time.

Career Woman (lvl 57): Deals 21% more DMG.

Opinion

Megohime is a self booster from both her skill and ability. This makes her similar to Kyuso, Kyuso [Kimono], Dom Pedro Aquamarine and Bastet. Ignoring the melee daemons on that list, it leaves Bastet as a comparator:

Daemon Megohime Bastet
Attack 8400/10298 8000/9808
HP 6000/7356 5550/6804
Skill HP recovery 1236/1516 0
Self DMG boost 69%/85% 75%/92%
Ability 57: Deals 21% more DMG 60: Increases 12% Skill DMG by Divina team members at the start of the final wave.
MLB Autos, crit considered 1526 1201
MLB Autos after 1 skill activation, crit considered 2598 2306

Considering that each skill activation affects 4 autos following the activation, the damage value of Megohime’s skill activation is 4*(2598-1526)=4288, and along with a HP boost it isn’t that bad for a 4 star, theortically. Lots of single target ranged 4* produce skill damage well short of that value. However, the auto attacks don’t seem to produce as good an outcome because:

  1. Not able to stack with skill bonds on a ranged daemon
  2. Difficult to stack with other boosts
  3. Auto attacks can get interrupted
  4. Lower actual output because the daemon might waste time moving from one spot to another before activating the auto attack
  5. Lack of satisfaction from seeing large skill damage numbers

Therefore, although she is better than Bastet at producing auto damage (Bastet wins for the team boost, but there are many better team boosts out there as well), being simply a ‘better auto attacker’ than Bastet does not a good damage focused daemon make. The bar set by Bastet was really too low to start with.
